I made stamps for our invitations over the holiday weekend (one of many, many checks off the WedFest '05 to-do list). I took one of Andrew's photographs (www.andrewandlisa.net/andrewgallery and look for the male toucan feeding the female, which he took at the National Aviary the weekend I first met his parents, and I just thought it was an incredibly romantic moment), added our names to the top and our wedding date to the bottom (because the image has to be a square and the photo was a rectangle, so there was all this white space anyway) using our wedding font and color, all in Photoshop, and saved it as a high-resolution TIFF. Then I uploaded it to www.photostamps.com. It costs a little more than regular stamps, but not a ton more, and we're only sending out about 37 or 38 invitations (somehow I've lost count!), so it's only about $40 for two 20-stamp sheets of $0.60 postage (which would normally cost $24, obviously, but to me, that extra $16 is worth it! I mean, what a neat touch).
Today I'm taking in a finished invitation to my office to weigh on a postal scale to make sure a $0.60 stamp is the right one before ordering, then today I can really place the order. I'm stoked.
